It was a true joy planning Sally and Ricky’s modern charcoal and tangerine wedding. Their love for each other was very apparent through the entire planning process and we absolutely loved working with them. They tied the knot at the intimate Foothills Chapel in Golden, Colorado. Sally walk down the aisle to acoustic music provided by Michael Lancaster. After the ceremony, guests made their way to Mount Vernon Country Clubfor an evening of great food and dancing. The ballroom was transformed with charcoal pintuck linens accented with tangerine chair sashes from Chair Covers and Linens. The invitations and wedding stationery matched the modern charcoal and tangerine wedding color palette and were provided by Cloud 9 Papers. We had a great time bringing special touches to this wedding, for example we told their engagement story through an angry birds grooms cake. The happy couple cut the cake with a fireman’s ax that was inscribed with Sally and Ricky’s wedding seal (the groom is a firefighter). Their beautiful wedding cake by Intricate Icings mimicked her dress perfectly. Plum Sageprovided a punch of color with stylish modern centerpieces full of orange calla lilies. After a wonderful plated dinner, guests danced the night way to music provided by The DJ Guy. Guests posed for the perfect picture in a photo booth provided by ShutterBooth. Thank you for Andy and Angie Wood for documenting the day perfectly and sharing the images with us. Planning and design provided by Brynn at Save the Date Events.

Jessamyn and Erik were married this summer at the lovely Hudson Gardens in Littleton, Colorado. Jessamyn and Erik are both active runners and wanted their wholesome lifestyle to truly shine on their wedding day. From the adorable garden flower pot centerpieces created by Hillside Consultants, to the fresh local foods at their reception cooked up by Footers Catering, they really accomplished that idea.
Erik’s mother baked and designed the cake herself, and did a fantastic job! Jessamyn’s father worked with Footers to pair amazing local wines and beers for the dinner, and every detail of the ceremony (officiated by the father of the bride) was incredibly special and heartfelt.
Special thanks to the amazing photographer Paul Steinke for these beautiful images! Planning and coordination by Gabby at Save the Date Events.

Cindy and Mike were the sweetest couple to work with! Even though they lived in different states, they were able to keep the romance alive - and their love shows in the pictures from their stunning park wedding. It was a warm Saturday at City Park in Denver, so Mike and the guys tossed a football while waiting for his bride to arrive. The beautiful setup was created by Bella Rents and the stunning flowers provided by Bella Fiori.
Cindy arrived in a stunning vintage Rolls Royce, which matched her theme perfectly - Cindy loves Art Deco and The Great Gatsby. After a short ceremony at the park, the guests were escorted to the Oxford Hotel (one of the oldest hotels in Denver!) where her guests enjoyed a station-style dinner. The delightful cake was created by Slice Cake Studio and Shutterbooth had the guests giggling and taking pictures all night! Planning and design by Gabby at Save the Date Events.
Many thanks to the amazing to the amazing team at Studio JK for these images. So romantic!

We LOVED working with Erin, Jeff and their families over the past ten months to plan their Denver wedding for 350 guests at the Omni Interlocken Resort. Erin wanted Tiffany blue as her main wedding color. She also liked sparkly details, crystals and rhinestones. We had a custom monogram created that we used throughout many of the wedding elements starting with their aisle runner from Etsy. The stunning ceremony floral and hanging crystal backdrop were created by the Perfect Petal. The draping was done by John Quail, “The Drape Guy”. Their custom monogram unity candle set and programs were created by fantastic Etsy designers. Ceremony music was provided by Metropolitan Strings. Hair and makeup for Erin and all of her bridesmaids was done by Leslie Arts. Thank you to the incredibly talented Jenna Walker for sharing their gorgeous wedding images!
You can see Erin and Jeff’ wedding video on our blog along with the time lapse setup video for their reception.
Stay tuned for Erin & Jeff’s stunning wedding reception details next…

This beautiful and creative couple, Holly and Seth, got married on a warm day in August at a stunning Colorado venue called Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfied. Having the mountains within reach and an adorable red barn, Chatfield is a dream.
Holly and Seth are incredibly talented and designed every aspect of their wedding details, from the scrabble table names, to the ceremony and reception direction posts, to the hidden message on the cake. Holly is also a talented graphic designer and after having so much fun designing her own wedding, she has started created wedding-related papers for other brides.
The bride’s makeup was styled by Natosha from Aphrodite Affairs. The beautiful flowers were created by Bella Fiori and they did an amazing job! The adorable cake was designed by Intricate Icings, and as always it is perfect! The beautiful day was captured by Lupher Arts for video - and these AMAZING photos were provided by Fuse Photographic. Thank you Travis and Laura for sharing their stunning wedding photos.
-Gabby

Christy and Gabe were such an amazing couple to work with. Even though the bride lived in two different states during the planning process, we made sure every detail was covered!
Their beautiful wedding couldn’t have had a better day in Breckenridge Colorado, where the sun was bright and the blue sky looked like it could go on forever. The ceremony and reception were held at Ten Mile Station, a venue that we love at Save the Date Events. It is part ski lodge, part wedding site and is perfect for any mountain lover!
The lovely flowers were created by Petal and Bean, who also made an etched C&G base for her Wish Tree, and found Christy a perfect deep Merlot aisle runner. The ceremony music was provided by Sister’s Quartet, and the beautiful ceremony was given by Pastor Rasmussen. We loved the two flawless cakes that were baked by Intricate Icings as well.
Holly Canfield couldn’t have done a better job with the stationary items, they were amazing! The DJ provided by A Music Plus had the guests dancing all night!
Thank you so much to Robert from Fine Art Weddings for these gorgeous photographs!

Allix and Nate have been wonderful to work with! We are planning their wedding at Planet Bluegrass on 4th of July weekend, 2011. Every time I spend time with them (attempting to work), I end up spending half of it laughing hysterically. Seriously amazing couple.

Dear Gabby,
I recently moved to Denver from a small town, where a couple invites close friends and family, not friend+date. Here, it is different. People who attend weddings are assumed to need the security of a partner in order to comfortably celebrate the event. And this person is often a stranger to the bride and groom. My fiancee and I just got engaged but are in a disagreement about this - I do NOT want strangers at my wedding, and he is perfectly okay with it. I consider a wedding as something intimate and private and also very special. How can I get around this trend without seeming rude?
Sincerely, Frustrated Bride
Dear Frustrated Bride,
I understand the desire to keep such a special day close to your heart (and family/friend circle!) My general suggestion is to ask yourself if you know the surname of the individual that your guest wants to bring as a date. If the pair have been dating and you have formed a relationship with the other person, it would be considerate to invite them on behalf of your guest. However, guests who are reading this should never assume that a wedding invitation addressed to you as an individual is actually a ticket-for-two unless specifically spelled out that way. Lastly, for any guests who inquire about bringing an unknown date, you may say “We are only inviting people we know to the wedding, but would love to meet her another time…” Sincere. To the point.

Today we wanted to share with you some fabulous ideas for your special Girls Night Out aka The Bachelorette Partay! While the boys are having their own fun, the ladies can have some seriously exciting activities of their own. Drum roll…Let me introduce the hottest dance studio in town, Tease Studio.Tease can offer customized one-hour parties for the bachelorette and her ladies that can focus on pole dancing, lap dancing and burlesque. This is a fun way to start your night out, and they are conveniently located close to downtown!
We also love the idea of some serious pampering! For this, we turn to the experts at Tootsies - The Nail Shoppe. Tootsies focuses on extremely sanitary nail care (as well as the reputation for keeping the nail polish on longer than anywhere else - how do they do that??) For your bachelorette party, Tootsies is a great choice because they have so much experience, have a fantastic atmosphere and prepare complimentary Hpnotiq “Tootsies Toniq” cocktails for these parties!
If you want to use either of these fabulous ideas, consult your wedding coordinator to plan these parties!

We LOVE weddings that take place at a private home or mansion. The bride and groom typically have full control over many of the details and can create whatever type of event they desire. If you are planning an event at a private home, be sure to hire an experienced event planner to assist with the logistics and details. Here are a few details that we take charge of and assist with:
Rentals - Not only will you have a tent, you also need tables, chairs, linens, flatware, china, glassware, etc. And on top of those things, your caterer may also need convection ovens, heating racks, prep tables, trash cans and possibly a tent of their own for prep. You may opt to have a floor in your tent, fabric draping, special lighting and a stage for the band. Your wedding rentals for this type of event will be much higher than a typical Colorado wedding venue.
Portable Restrooms - Even if the home has a few restrooms, it is always good to have a back-up just in case there are plumbing issues. You can rent luxury trailer port-o-lets that come with sinks and mirrors.
Parking - Most homes cannot accommodate 75+ vehicles. Arrange for shuttles, rent a nearby parking lot, provide valet services or ensure neighboring estates can accommodate overflow parking.
Lighting and Power - Not only will you need lighting for your tent, you will also need lighting for the caterer, walkways, and restroom area. You can count on having a generator for the caterer, band and lighting. Be sure to check with those vendors for power requirements. A DJ may not require much but a large wedding band will need a lot of dedicated power.

During the sixties, fashion became very fluid and varied, and broke many fashion trends. It was the era of the go-go boot, corduroy pants, paisley prints, mini-dresses and eventually styles we refer to today as “hippie”.
Large sunglasses, heavy eye makeup and pale lipsticks belong in this era. Large funky accessories were used, and hair was big. Think of wearing a minidress (pictured), or a long empire-waist gown to mimic the styles of this era. Put your bridesmaids in batik fabric or paisley or tie-dyed prints. Pass out daisies to your guests, and incorporate this flower into your arrangements. Skinny ties and fitted polyester suits could be worn by the groomsmen.
For a vintage inspired wedding from this era, use mismatched patterns and/or bright, psychedelic colors for your linens and napkins. Think about including patchouli incense sticks in your wedding favors. Hiring a classic rock and oldies band would set the perfect mood for your guests.

In the mid-1900s, the “womanly” look was back in fashion. Gone were the loose, straight dresses of the 20s, and in were longer skirts and natural waists.
In the 50s, these were replaced by the hourglass silhouette. Pencil skirts were all the rage, accessorized with short gloves and pearls.
Accessories in striking colors, including “mimosa yellow” and “apple blossom pink”, were very popular.
In 1947, Dior launched his first fashion collection. It was characterized by full skirts, large busts and tiny waists. It was such an extravagant use of fabric after the war years, but celebrities and politicians alike became instant fans. The editor of Harper’s Bazaar called it the “New Look”.
Bridesmaids could be dressed in pencil skirts and hats with netting, accessorized with short gloves and collars of pearl.
Your wedding décor should have clean lines and simple design. The grooms can wear pin strip suits and wing-tip shoes.
Think of hiring a band who can play Big Band or swing music, and hire trained swing dancers to perform, and later teach your guests.
