Manor House Wedding | Kerry and Blake

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

cmp_037

Kerry and Blake were married last fall at the beautiful Evans Chapel on the DU Campus. Their reception was held at the historic Manor House in the Ken Caryl Valley. This couple couldn’t have been more pleasurable to work with, even though we spent most of our time on Skype since they were living in Germany during the planning period!

Kerry had the desire to be surrounded by soft, lush flowers, blush tones and simple textures. We worked with an amazing florist, Annie Aubert, to accomplish Kerry’s dreams for her wedding day. The chapel was draped in lovely pale flowers and soft candle light.

Their reception at the Manor House was filled with love and laughter - and even when the party was officially over, one of their friends hopped on the piano for a group choir session before their transportation arrived.

It was amazing to see the love this bride and groom had on their wedding day, and I will truly miss working with them!

Thanks to the fantastic photographer, Chris McLaughlin for these awesome images!  Planning and design by Gabby at Save the Date Events.

Beaver Creek Wedding | Sarah and John

Monday, November 8th, 2010
519-11

Sarah and John’s wedding happened on a bright and sunny August day in the adorable town of Beaver Creek, Colorado. The ceremony was held at the Beaver Creek Chapel, where sunlight streamed through the large stained-glass window as they gave their vows. The beautiful bouquets and flowers were all created by the talented Plum Sage Florist.

The cocktail hour and reception were held at a beautiful private home in the Mountain Star neighborhood of Avon, Colorado and guests were transported there in shuttles provided by All Mountain Transportation. The guests enjoyed the warm night under clean white tenting provided by Colorado Party Rentals and enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvres and dinner buffet which were created by Vail Catering Concepts. The guests danced the night away with the great tunes from the Don Watson Band - they were awesome!

Special thanks to Pettit Photography for these amazing images! Kent was incredibly professional, highly experienced and genuinely interested in capturing the intimacies of the day.

Congratulations to Sarah and John!

Christy and Gabe were such an amazing couple to work with. Even though the bride lived in two different states during the planning process, we made sure every detail was covered!

Their beautiful wedding couldn’t have had a better day in Breckenridge Colorado, where the sun was bright and the blue sky looked like it could go on forever.  The ceremony and reception were held at Ten Mile Station, a venue that we love at Save the Date Events. It is part ski lodge, part wedding site and is perfect for any mountain lover!

The lovely flowers were created by Petal and Bean, who also made an etched C&G base for her Wish Tree, and found Christy a perfect deep Merlot aisle runner. The ceremony music was provided by Sister’s Quartet, and the beautiful ceremony was given by Pastor Rasmussen. We loved the two flawless cakes that were baked by Intricate Icings as well.

Holly Canfield couldn’t have done a better job with the stationary items, they were amazing! The DJ provided by A Music Plus had the guests dancing all night!

Thank you so much to Robert from Fine Art Weddings for these gorgeous photographs!

This incredibly amazing couple got married at Wild Horse Inn on 4th of July Weekend and what a crazy fun evening that was! The sweet wedding ceremony was held outside in the warm breezy weather, and then the party moved under a white tent decorated with lights and fabric. The beautiful flowers were designed by Pick Me! Floral Design and they did an incredible job.

The food was provided by Wild Horse Catering and was delicious. Guests were also treated to a dessert buffet created by Sweet Celebrations - SO delicious!

Ashley and Kyle had some serious dancers, I wish I could have the playlist from the reception. The tunes were provided by Mike from A Music Plus and it took super efforts to stop myself feet from dancing. At the end of the evening we opened the Scotch and Cigar Bar which was a huge hit with their wedding guests.

I loved planning with Ashley and Kyle for their Colorado wedding. They are incredibly genuine and had amazing families and friends.

Special thanks to the super team at Colorado Wedding Photograhers: Jason+Gina to a fabulous job!

Allix and Nate have been wonderful to work with! We are planning their wedding at Planet Bluegrass on 4th of July weekend, 2011. Every time I spend time with them (attempting to work), I end up spending half of it laughing hysterically. Seriously amazing couple.

Real Wedding Denver | Betina and Ken

Monday, July 26th, 2010
brumm_wed_130-1

It was a beautiful day in June when Betina and Ken got married at Boettcher Mansion in Golden, Colorado. It was a sunny and breezy day, with a short mountain burst of rain that did not stop this outside ceremony on the patio of the mansion. The wedding guests were all formally dressed at this black tie wedding, where the reception fare included a multiple course dinner experience catered by Footers Catering along with wine pairings specially chosen by the bride and groom. The beautiful flowers were created by Annie Aubert, and she did an amazing job!

The delicious cake was provided by Intricate Icings and was gone in a flash. The guests were dancing (including tango) to the tunes of Quality Mobile Sounds and the parents had some relief thanks to the helpful staff of Wedding Sitters by Charity. It was a beautiful evening, the bride looked lovely(thanks to Makeup by Janine) and it was a pleasure to work with this couple!

Special thanks to Julie and Chris from Sharber Photography for these amazing images.

Ask Gabby:Wedding Etiquette for the Contemporary Bride 2

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

rsvp2Dear Gabby,

I recently moved to Denver from a small town, where a couple invites close friends and family, not friend+date. Here, it is different. People who attend weddings are assumed to need the security of a partner in order to comfortably celebrate the event. And this person is often a stranger to the bride and groom. My fiancee and I just got engaged but are in a disagreement about this - I do NOT want strangers at my wedding, and he is perfectly okay with it. I consider a wedding as something intimate and private and also very special. How can I get around this trend without seeming rude?

Sincerely, Frustrated Bride

Dear Frustrated Bride,

I understand the desire to keep such a special day close to your heart (and family/friend circle!) My general suggestion is to ask yourself if you know the surname of the individual that your guest wants to bring as a date. If the pair have been dating and you have formed a relationship with the other person, it would be considerate to invite them on behalf of your guest. However, guests who are reading this should never assume that a wedding invitation addressed to you as an individual is actually a ticket-for-two unless specifically spelled out that way. Lastly, for any guests who inquire about bringing an unknown date, you may say “We are only inviting people we know to the wedding, but would love to meet her another time…” Sincere. To the point.

What Vintage Means to You - Part II

Monday, April 12th, 2010
vintage wedding blog

Today we begin our discussion of vintage fashion and how you might use pieces of history in your own wedding. Let’s begin with the 1700s and early 1800s. In England, these periods are referred to as the Georgian and Regency periods. Note the romantic details in the apparel (pictured) – the beautiful lines, delicate fabrics, heavy beading and lacework.

If you like this look, it is easy to find wedding dresses that mimic these designs. There are numerous empire-waist gowns, and even more designed with the massively full ball-gown skirts of the Georgian period. See www.stpucchi.com, www.verawang.com, and www.badgleymischkabride.com for many wedding dresses designed in these styles.

If you want to incorporate these styles into more than just your dress, try adding chandeliers to your décor and accenting your tables with romantic blushing roses and antiqued candelabras. Your bridesmaids might all wear empire-waist gowns, and the flowers they carry could be English roses and peonies. Makeup should be very light and natural, with blushing cheeks and lips.

Have a string quartet so that dancing is more along the lines of what you would find at a Regency house party, rather than a DJ. Include menu items that recall these times as well – tea cakes and sandwiches, punch, petit-fours, etc. The wedding would be perfect as a morning or brunch wedding.

Do’s and Don’ts For Your Mountain Wedding - Part I

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010
Breckenridge wedding

For the next week, we are focusing on the do’s and don’ts of mountain weddings in Colorado. Whether you have lived in Colorado your whole life or are having a destination wedding here, there are unique circumstances and logistics for mountain weddings.

Hair and Make-up - Be realistic about your hair and makeup options. While a Colorado mountain wedding can be a dream come true, wind, cold and rain can do damage to hair and makeup. When planning a mountain wedding, take the elements into consideration before choosing your hair style. For an outdoor ceremony, seriously consider an updo. This tried and true style will keep you looking polished all night. If you are determined to wear your locks down, invest in a stylist to spend the day with you touching up your makeup and hair so you do not have a tangled and messy hairstyle by the time you enter the reception.

Your Guests - Do plan to entertain your guests. A mountain wedding is definitely more work than a wedding in Denver or in your hometown. You are not only inviting guests to your wedding, but you have also invited them on vacation. Plan activities at the ski resort, a welcome reception complete with smores, an easy day hike or other simple activities where your guests can spend time with you without breaking their budget.

Wedding Week Activities - On the other hand, don’t feel obligated to plan every minute. Guests are on vacation too. Do provide them with activity options and a short itinerary for the week so they know where to find you. However, definitely allow them time to explore on their own. Your wedding website is a good place to list local activities for your guests.

Guest List - Don’t expect everyone you invite to attend. Traveling is expensive, especially to some of the mountain towns in Colorado. Because of this, expect a certain percentage of your guests to decline your invite. While this can be initially disappointing, it will make for a much more intimate celebration.

We LOVE this incredible rustic elegance mountain wedding! The pictures show all the amazing elements - our absolutely gorgeous bride and groom, stunning flowers, a picture perfect fall snow day and creative Colorado wedding details. We worked with Becky and Andy for six months prior to their destination Colorado wedding in October. They had the venue and a few vendors prior to contacting us. They used our assistance to tie together details, do a few site visits, email photos of specific venue details, contract remaining vendors and finalize the design elements. We also coordinated all details of the wedding day at Peaceful Valley Ranch in Lyons, Colorado. We didn’t meet Becky and Andy until the wedding week but they felt like old friends after all of our emails and phone calls during the wedding planning process. Thank you both for being incredible clients over the past year!

Our vendor team was outstanding. Special thank you to Sweet Celebrations, Nobility Strings, Ad Hoc Entertainment, AKHaydon Floral Design, Gary Dempsey Pianist, Rev Diane Reiss, Unique Touch Photography, A Boulder Affair and Raecom Productions.
