We had such a fun time planning a surprise party for Lindsay’s 30th birthday! Her adorable hubby had a great time getting creative with the details of the event…wanting it to be truly unique! We combined a hip-hop violinist, an ice cream sundae bar with a rooftop deck in the summertime and the results were amazing!

Thanks to Plum Sage Flowers for the lush florals, Chair Covers & Linens for the beautiful silky linens, Shamane’s Bake Shoppe for her lovely cake and cupcakes, Maestro Hughes and DJ Shake One for the tunes all night and the excellent Bacaro Venetian Tavern for the amazing venue!

Special thanks to Chris from Premium Digital Solutions for the photos!

My Favorite Boulder Rehearsal Dinner Spots!

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

boulder1

Boulder Colorado is known for it’s breathtaking views of the Flat Irons and the quirky, whimsical Pearl Street Mall. What a perfect place to have your Rehearsal Dinner (or Welcome Dinner, or Bridesmaids Brunch) Here are my top favorite places:

The Foundry - This laid-back bar and grill has one of the best views in town and they love to host parties on their rooftop deck. The food is familiar and the prices are great.

Lazy Dog - The rooftop deck at the Lazy Dog can seat up to 100 people! Host your entire wedding on this deck with a full bar and stunning views.

Jill’s at the St. Julien Hotel - This stunning, contemporary fine dining restaurant boasts bold lighting fixtures, an amazing bar and exquisite entrees.

Bacaro Venetian Taverna - Bacaro has a beautiful sunny deck that can seat up to 200 people! The deck has lovely hanging glass lights, adorable chalkboards and chandeliers that add a romantic touch.

The Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant - The Rio is known for their margaritas, and they have a great rooftop deck. What more could you ask for?

Real Wedding Boulder | Amanda and Mike

Amanda and Mike got married!! This sunny, sweet brunch wedding was held in the morning at the lovely Rembrandt Yard in Boulder Colorado. The weather was stunning, with a light breeze and warm sunshine all day! Guests loved the mimosas and breakfast munchies provided by Jubilations Catering, while also enjoying views of downtown Boulder and the foothills through the gallery windows. The bride looked gorgeous, with hair styled by Rachael from Girls and Curls, and makeup done by Natosha from Aphrodite Affairs - and she looked beautiful!

The sunflowers were overflowing every where you looked in the gallery, from her bouquet, to the sunflower heads used as place card holders, to the stunning cake created by Intricate Icings. The lovely flowers were created by Bella Fiori.

A huge thank you to the amazing photographers, Kevin and Jess, from This Modern Life Photography for providing these images. We love your work!

HUGE Congratulations to Amanda and Mike!

What Vintage Means to You - Part III

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010
vintage inspired wedding

Today we move on from the Georgian and Regency periods to one of the most romantic eras in history – the Victorian era. Beginning in 1837, when Queen Victoria ascended the throne of England, and ending in 1901, this period was one of great prosperity for the British people.

The fashions of the era were often accented with lace and ribbon, and skirts were made full with hoops and petticoats and flounces. Bodices often bared the shoulders, sometimes featured elaborate sleeves, and cinched in ladies’ waists to impossible sizes. Gloves were often worn, as were ribbon-bedecked bonnets. Heavy silks and satins in bold colors were popular.

In the later Victorian era, large hoopskirts went out of fashion and narrow skirts with large bustles came in. Princess-line dresses became very popular. Choker necklaces and jeweled collars were also in style, made fashionable by Alexandra, Princess of Wales. It is interesting to note that this is the era in which the white wedding gown was introduced. When Queen Victoria chose to be married in a white dress, it set the stage for all women of fashion. The tradition took even stronger hold in America when Grace Kelly wore a stunning white gown to her wedding.

Designers who have created dresses similar to those of the Victorian Era include www.priscillaofboston.com and www.platinumgown.com. Add a jeweled collar and satin gloves for extra flair! Your bridesmaids should be dressed similarly – with collars and gloves and their hair pinned up.

The makeup should be fair and simple, with pale cheeks and smooth creamy skin. Light lipstick and a loose, curly coiffure is perfect for hair.

Your tableware could be styled with Victorian china. Décor ought to reflect the tastes of the period – somewhat extravagant. Think of doing large vases overflowing with mixed flowers and embroidered linen napkins.

Kevin and Jessica from This Modern Life Photography shared the photos from Amanda and Mike’s engagement shoot, and we love them!

Amanda and Mike are planning their brunch wedding for a Sunday morning in April at the gorgeous Rembrandt Yard. We have been working together for almost a year, and I love this couple! We are planning some exciting details and are elegantly using sunflowers throughout gallery where floor to ceiling windows allow a ton of sun light in.

The wedding is coming soon, and we cannot wait to share the details!

We are so excited to have recently received a few more pictures from our August wedding at Rembrandt Yard in Boulder. Marnie and Wes are an adorable couple who found us all the way from Minnesota. Their destination Colorado wedding was fantastic. The sunny day was perfect for their ceremony and their lounge reception gave the evening a relaxed vibe.

We LOVE this incredible rustic elegance mountain wedding! The pictures show all the amazing elements - our absolutely gorgeous bride and groom, stunning flowers, a picture perfect fall snow day and creative Colorado wedding details. We worked with Becky and Andy for six months prior to their destination Colorado wedding in October. They had the venue and a few vendors prior to contacting us. They used our assistance to tie together details, do a few site visits, email photos of specific venue details, contract remaining vendors and finalize the design elements. We also coordinated all details of the wedding day at Peaceful Valley Ranch in Lyons, Colorado. We didn’t meet Becky and Andy until the wedding week but they felt like old friends after all of our emails and phone calls during the wedding planning process. Thank you both for being incredible clients over the past year!

Our vendor team was outstanding. Special thank you to Sweet Celebrations, Nobility Strings, Ad Hoc Entertainment, AKHaydon Floral Design, Gary Dempsey Pianist, Rev Diane Reiss, Unique Touch Photography, A Boulder Affair and Raecom Productions.

On a sunny day in mid-August, two of the most superb people got married - Marnie and Wes! At the lovely Rembrandt Yard which boasts floor to ceiling windows overlooking beautiful downtown Boulder and the foothills, we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day. The ladies looked gorgeous, thanks to the staff at Pompadours Salon in Boulder and they carried bouquets created by Lara with Fiori Flowers.

The reception was set as a modern lounge feel and it was created by Kirk with RC Special Events. The food was divine and the drink was flowing, all with the help of Jeremy at Occasions by Sandy.

And Peneplain Jazz Project had the guests on the dance floor all night!

Thank you so much to Butch and Kelsy at Photography by McCartney for these stunning photographs!
