Debbie Orwat
Owner & Creative Director
I started Save the Date Events in 2005 after working as a corporate event planner for four years prior. When I started my business, I was more of an event planner than a designer. I was just so excited that clients were hiring me to plan their weddings and social events that it took me four years to realize I had become an event designer more than just a planner. In the past year, I have embraced my love of design and creative talent to take our design services to a much higher level for our clients. As we have grown, I have had the opportunity to leverage my planning experience to train our team of planners including Brynn, Amber, Gabby and multiple assistants. I am so fortunate to have these incredible girls who work directly with our clients throughout the design, planning and production phase of our weddings and events. I consult with my team and our clients on the design elements for many of our events. I also work closely with my team to oversee the planning process for all of our weddings and events. With our team approach, our clients have access to expertise from our entire staff instead of just one planner. I also manage all of the business and marketing so that our team can focus on our client’s needs.

I have been privileged to design weddings and special events at some of the most beautiful locations in Colorado. It is truly an honor to share this incredible time of celebration with our clients. I am passionate about weddings AND about Colorado. I can’t imagine living anywhere else. I spend my free weekends visiting different mountain towns to hike, ski, climb and explore the local restaurants. I’m always scouting new wedding locations and take time every month to tour venues so that I have the latest knowledge of Colorado wedding venues, hotels and private homes. I tend to develop close relationships with my clients and have been known to shed a happy tear or two on the wedding day. We all strive to go the extra mile to ensure your experience with Save the Date Events surpasses your expectations and dreams. Sure we spend a lot of time on design files, spreadsheets, vendors and production schedules but we are a friend, guide, and confidante first.

The one thing that differentiates me from many consultants is how much I truly care. I am genuinely interested in people’s lives and their families. I have been complimented by many clients and vendors for being incredibly courteous, open-minded and friendly. It is the entire process from referring and meeting vendors to the big day that truly excites me. My process of taking it one step at a time really allows the couple to feel taken care of, organized, confident and excited about their wedding.

I stand out as a planner because my job is more than a job to me…it’s my passion. My goal is always to deliver events that are fun, remarkable, and most importantly, completely personal for my clients. I feel lucky everyday to be able to throw my energy, creativity, expertise, and passion for design behind making sure that their story is told with every detail. And even though I fantasize about the world of weddings and events at nearly every waking moment, I admit to a few other loves in my life: food and wine; art and music; family and my cats; traveling and playing-all of which give me a joy in life that I’m proud to play out in this wonderful state of Colorado. I love being a part of this fabulous company and this amazing team. I can’t wait to meet the next special couple that wants help in planning their very special event.

What makes me different? Well a lot of wedding planners can recommend vendors and create timelines and spreadsheets that will make you go cross-eyed. I guess what sets me a part is my unique way of laughing through the planning process and connecting with my clients on a personal level. There are a lot of stressful moments and tedious tasks when it comes to planning, if you find the humor in every situation planning can be really fun! The joy of planning for me comes together when I fix the brides gown and look down the aisle to see the grooms reaction when he sees his bride for the first time, I seem to cry every time and I love it! I hope that my clients see me as, a voice of reason, a valued resource, a creative genius, and last but not least a friend to laugh with. Weddings are a time of happiness and I think planning should be no different!
